Harry Thomsen Interview

Hello, Harry. You have a trio of songs currently out – The Law of Forgiveness, The Law of Thinking, and The Law of Sacrifice. What significance does each song hold for you?

  • These songs each hold a very important piece of wisdom towards approaching life and growing as a human being. The Law of Thinking deals with the concept that you become what you think about. Essentially, this implies that you can change your life by changing your thoughts. The Law of Forgiveness supports this idea further by stating the importance of forgiveness. The thing is, if you don’t forgive – that is if you don’t abandon all resentment and negative thoughts – you will thus experience more of the same, because you become what you think about. Of course, learning to think in a new way doesn’t come without some efforts on our part. In order to change, you have to discipline yourself to adopt new habits. This is what The Law of Sacrifice is about – to grow, you must let something go, giving up something lower for something higher.ht_fender_v10

Can you describe your creative process to us? How does a song go from an initial thought to a complete song?

  • I guess, most of the time I come up with a chord progression on the guitar that I like. In fact, I have quite a few of those chord progressions lying around, waiting for “their song” to come. If I’m then working on a project like this, I will go through them one by one to get a feeling for what might work for a particular song. This is also where I would typically begin writing the lyrics. But in some cases it’s the other way round. For instance, for The Law of Success (still to be released), I came up with more or less the whole song in my head during a bus ride. In fact, I recorded it on my mobile phone so that I wouldn’t forget it when I got back home.ht_taylor_v10

Which artists are the greatest influences for you and your music?

  • I have a really broad music taste. Here are just a few suggestions: Dire Straits, Beatles, Iron Maiden, Michael Jackson, to name but a few. Being from Denmark, I also like listening to a range of Danish artists. Something typical for me though is that I tend to be 10 years behind, in the sense that I rarely like new music being published. For example, in the 90’ies I like 80’ies music. In the 00’ies, I liked 90’ies music, etc. Having the guitar as my main instrument, I’m also a lot into guitar virtuosos like, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Mark Knopfler, Michael Angelo Batio, Tom Hess, and more.

Who is Dr. Raymond Holliwell and what role does he have in shaping your music?

  • I know that he lived in Phoenix, Arizona where he had a seminary, and that he released the book “Working with the Law” in 1969, but apart from this, I don’t know a whole lot about him actually. I came across his book while studying a course from Bob Proctor and Mary Morrissey, and I was absolutely fascinated with it. I believe that I compose the best music when I’m inspired about some particular idea, and shortly after reading the book, I had a strong vision to put it into music. 11 Laws, 11 songs, one album. Imagine putting on the CD, listening to beautiful, versatile music, while being immersed in the groundbreaking messages of Dr. Raymond Holliwell. I find this to be a powerful concept.

Which sort of social media website have you had the best successes with? What about these online services are different from the traditional face to face meeting that musicians traditionally utilize?ht_doubleNeck_v12

  • Until now, I’ve had the biggest audience and response on Facebook. Probably because it seemed to have so many members and such good demographic records, I also gave it the most attention of course. But apart from that I spend a lot of time developing my artist website harrythomsen.com and also on creating and uploading music videos on YouTube. The online services as opposed to meeting face to face allows me to reach an audience far beyond my physical reach. It’s incredible to get to interact with people from all over the world. That being said, I would definitely like to go touring at some point and meet people for real, but I believe I need to finalize a few more songs first.

Which track of yours do you favor the most, and what makes it so?

  • Of course I like all of them, but if I had to pick one it would probably be The Law of Thinking. I think there is a certain quality to the melody and that Giddam’s performance came out in a particularly good way here.

How can individuals find samples of your music?

  • On harrythomsen.com one can listen to the songs in full – either via the music player to the right or under the menu item “Music”. Please do leave a comment. I would be happy to hear what you think.

What is the next step for you as a musician and a person?

  • The next step for me would be to release some more songs to finalize the album. It’s a big job composing, recording, producing, mixing, etc. – a job that I enjoy very much – and that’s why some time always goes by between the release of each song. As a person, my goal is to always keep learning and growing. Composing the music, studying to write the lyrics is one way for me to do this. After this album, I already have the next one planned. Giddam and I will compose and release an Angel Album together – one song for each archangel. A powerful concept!

Do you have any final thoughts for NeuFutur readers?

  • I like to believe that I write spiritual or inspirational music. A lot of other spiritual music is either very soft meditation music or Christian gospel. I really like this as well, but it only corresponds to but a few of the feelings and moods of the human being. Something that perhaps differentiates my music is that it is versatile, melodious rock with energy, emotion and a strong rhythm – still having the spiritual message.

Thank you so much for your time.

  • It was my pleasure, thanks for having me.

Full Sail Bock

The beer pours with a dark brown coloration and little to nothing in the way of head. The beer’s nose has hints of grain and a slight hint of sweetness. The bold flavors of the Bock come forth with the first good sip – there are dark fruit and peppery notes that are given further depth through the inclusion of smaller hop elements.Full Sail’s Bock’s higher ABV (7.0%) is hidden well amongst the larger than life elements, making a perfect effort for those that want a fulfilling beer that does not kill with sweetness like a number of export stouts or veers too close to a prune-dominated body. As the beer continues to warm, imbibers will notice that the beer settles into a more boosy, sharper set of tastes. This beer has enough twists and turns to keep individuals interested through two or three bottles, which should be more than enough to put a memorable cap on the night.

Full-Sail-Bock

Few companies are able to do bock beers right, but Full Sail is able to create in their Bock an effort that is able to be delectable for long-time fans of the style and for those that are actively searching for beers to expand their palettes. The offering will go well with red meat, fried food, and anything that has a stronger flavor profile (pastas, sausages).

Full Sail’s Bock is a limited series, so make sure to purchase a sixer of the beer before it flies off of shelves (expect it to disappear in about three months). For more information about the complete line of Full Sail’s seasonal and year-round beers, give their website a spin; their Facebook has the latest news about the brewery’s accolades and current beer experiments.

Arnold Sports Festival

The sheer amount of events that are active at any point during the Arnold Sports Festival is astonishing. Fencing, karate, powerlifting, and other expositions are legion in number.Arnold-Sports-Festival-2014-Honey-Badger

The main exposition floor is the hub of greatest activity. The sheer number of vendors at the ASF is nothing less than astonishing. Walking up and down the aisles will be sufficient to receive a number of protein bar chunks, samples of companies’ latest effort, and the latest in exercise tools. The largest stars in the bodybuilding and fitness spheres make their presence known at the festival; we have been able to meet Mark Henry, Kurt Angle, Lou Ferrigno, Phil Heath, and Jay Cutler. While the main floor gets packed as the day continues on, the lay of the Greater Columbus Convention Center makes it easy to find a secluded spot. The Festival gives companies a major platform on which to announce their latest products; attendees will be able to benefit from these new products before others.

The Arnold Classic is the foundation of the Sports Festival, and the events pit the world’s best bodies against one another. This year, three winners will be crowned – the ASF is crowning the victor of the Arnold Strongman Classic, the Bikini International, and the Arnold Classic. The Party With the Pros allows attendees the ability to meet and have a moment with some of the largest figures in bodybuilding.

To get an idea of the events occurring during the Arnold Sports Festival, check out their domain, arnoldsportsfestival.com/ . The ticket cost is extremely approachable when one considers that events are occurring throughout the day for the larger part of a week. The Arnold Sports Festival is a yearly occurrence and will take place in early March, 2015.

The Naddiks 21CB EP Review

Lost and Found is a raucous track that sails on a fuzzy sea of guitars and intensively emotive vocals that are equal amounts Dexter Holland, Justin Sane, and Paul Westerberg. The dynamic between the guitars and drums creates something that is absurdly fast while possessing just enough order to properly wallop anyone that is listening in. Weekend Syndrome begins with an instrumental introduction that opens up to a blend of pre-Dookie Green Day and Jet. The styles of music that The Naddiks choose for the songs on the 21CB EP work well together and speak to a considerable swath of fans; there is as much Detroit rock as there is Crimpshrine-era California.21CB_-_The_Naddiks

The Naddiks’  21CB takes a wholly different tack with Human Condition. The emotive, new romanticism-y guitar track and impassioned vocals showcases that the band can take up different standards at the drop of a hat. The band is able to make this track into something that is memorable. Into Your Arms is able to build off of the work of the late-eighties DC/Buffalo emotive scenes while establishing a contemporary sound.

Twenty First Century concludes the 21CB, and the cut showcases The Naddiks’ ability to create a stomaching, catchy rock tune. The hint of punk accorded the track by the vocals provides an additional layer to the compositions; by adding all the pieces of the band in this composition, The Naddiks are able to give listeners an emphatic ending to the recording. While there are 6 tracks on the 21CB EP, I believe that The Naddiks have much to show fans. Make sure to visit their domain and social networking to hear samples from the EP, check out the latest news, and hear the newest efforts from the band.

Dena Taylor The Nearness of You CD Review

Dena Taylor is able to effortlessly move through a number of different styles to create something in The Nearness of You that is tremendously personal and effecting.IF

When October Goes is the introductory track on The Nearness of You, and it provides a slow and deliberate introduction to listeners. The harmony achieved here will tattoo itself upon the minds and hearts of listeners, with the track working equally well to fans of 1920s torch singers, 1960s soul singers, or of musicals generally. Besame Mucho adds a Latin flair to this album; Taylor is able to create a wholly different sound that keeps listeners firmly on the edges of their seats. The instrumentation laid down on Besame Mucho is without comparison. The sheer emotional content of the guitar work provides gravitas and an additional complexity that will require listeners to spin the effort numerous times to hear the interactions between the instrumental and vocal.

Do Nothing Til You Hear From Me links together a fifties style that looks forward to the seventies singer-songwriter style (Karen Carpenter, Carly Simon) just as it would sound right in an art deco-adorned jazz club. Taylor’s versatility means that each composition on The Nearness of You will be a wholly unique composition from anything else a listener has heard. For All We Know keeps things slow and simple; with the dynamic between piano and Taylor’s vocals pushing each to a higher plateau, the song represents a stellar late-disc inclusion.

Take a sojourn to Taylor’s website for more information about her career, upcoming releases, and the latest in information about her various pursuits.

Pedro Soler & Philippe Mouratoglou to play Isaac Albeniz's "Rumores de la Caleta"

The work of Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909) draws profound inspiration from popular music, such as Suite espagnole, Iberia, Recuerdos de Viaje, and Cantos de España. Even though he composed for the piano with the greatest respect for the original forms – sevillanas, malagueñas, bulerias – his style is influenced by the specific colors of the guitar. Soler and Mouratoglou reveal the essential connection between the composer’s musical language and that of flamenco. Soler provides the spirit of the golden age of flamenco while Mouratoglou brings the rigor and formalism of classical training. Together they reveal a ‘cante primitive’ that combines passion and poetry in equal measure, and transform Albéniz’s piano piece into an elegant four-handed guitar piece, fertile and poetic.

Founded in 2013 by French guitarist Philippe Mouratoglou, Vision Fugitive is directed by Mouratoglou with clarinetist Jean-Marc Foltz and artist and former record producer Philippe Ghielmetti. Each of these directors produce one recording project a year presenting repertoire that crosses the genres of jazz, classical, contemporary and traditional. The quality of Vision Fugitive excels at every level from the repertoire, musicianship, engineering to the elegant album packaging featuring extensive booklets with original artwork by French cartoonist and artist Emmanuel Guibert or unique archival images from the artists’ personal collections.

Harry Thomsen – “Law of Thinking”, “Law of Forgiveness”, and “Law of Sacrifice”

Harry Thomsen has cut three tracks – Law of Thinking, Law of Forgiveness, and Law of Sacrifice – that are based on the writings of Dr. Raymond Holliwell. Law of Thinking is an orchestral rock effort that links together the Scorpions and Kix. The deliberate beat that is weaved through the effort is countered nicely through Giddam’s vocal contributions. The track shifts and changes just enough to keep listeners intensely focused in from beginning to ending. The Law of Forgiveness has a clear narrative that keeps the attention of fans; Thomsen’s musical backdrop do much to provide proper lift and light to Geddes’ vocals.harrythomsen2

Law of Sacrifice has a very different sounding dynamic with the inclusion of Thomsen’s children into the mix. The different themes provided by each track showcases Thomsen’s versatility; the dynamic shared between the vocal and instrumental sides of each composition pushes each to a greater height. The Law of Forgiveness is able to shine because it showcases a set of disparate elements that are able to combine into one cohesive and fascinating effort. I feel that the bond between Thomsen and Giddam is strong enough to be able to manifest itself in a variety of distinct fashions; one has to wonder the ways that the duo (and children) will interact on subsequent recordings.harrythomsen3

Taken together, these three songs will introduce listeners to a deft and complex set of compositions that will be provided further context when the remainder of the album’s tracks are revealed. Make sure to visit Thomsen’s website for biographical information, samples of the singles, and further information about the upcoming full-length album. Nikki Lorenzo Interview

We had a few brief moments to speak with Nikki Lorenzo, a performer that has just released “Be My Man”.

How did you begin to perform?

-I was four years old and obsessed with Evita. That’s where it all began. My family loved asking me to entertain guests at parties with songs I had practiced over and over again in my room.

How did “Be My Man” move from initial thought to finished effort? What was the recording process for this single like?

NIKI_LORENZO_BE_MY_MAN_1400_RGB

-The song was given life one night when I was at a bar and ran into the guy I was dating at the time with another girl. I went back to my car and wrote, “Be My Man” instantly, using my phone to capture sound. Went into the studio the following day to officially record it. I sang it once and that’s the final vocal recording you hear today.

What significance does the song possess?

-Unrequited love is a big one here. However, there is an exquisiteness in the pain.

What artists and styles most influence your overall sound?

-I’m all about soul so I love me some Patsy Cline and Etta James. I like horns, strings, and the blues. I’m big into The Doors and rockstar performers like Freddie Mercury. I’m also currently deeply inspired by Hozier, that man does it for me.

Are there any live dates or events that you will be performing to support the new release?

-Yes! I have a show coming up March 12th 9:30pm at The Other Door in North Hollywood, Ca. Tickets are $5 – I’m thrilled because not only am I doing some of my favorite songs off my album, but I’m also having my friend and fellow musician, Chris Brochu, join me for a song on stage that we wrote together.

How can interested readers find out more about yourself and your music?

-Visit my website www.nikkilorenzo.com or follow me on Twitter & Instagram: @nikkilorenzo

What has provided more of your fans – Facebook / Instagram / Twitter or traditional word of mouth?

-Instagram and good ol’ word of mouth.

We are still pretty early in 2015. What goals do you have for the year?

-This year I’m releasing a few more singles and then ultimately releasing my debut album, which I’m extremely jazzed about. No pun intended, hehe. I have a spoken-word album I’ve set as a goal this year to distribute as well that I’m collaborating with Raul Vega on. I also have a few short films coming out and looking forward to starring in Chris Brochu’s next music video.

Thank you so much for your time. Do you have any final thoughts for us at NeuFutur?

-Thank YOU so much for your support! Love is it. Love is all of it. Thank you.

ON AN ON release new song "Drifting"

This spring ON AN ON will embark upon tour dates with Big Data following multiple performances at SXSW. The Minneapolis trio have a big year ahead of them in 2015 as they prepare for the forthcoming release of their sophomore album later this summer. The follow up to their critically acclaimed debut Give In, the new album was recorded at the famous Sunset Sound in Los Angeles with legendary producer Joe Chiccarelli (Spoon, White Stripes, The Shins, My Morning Jacket). The first preview into ON AN ON’s second coming is the hauntingly suspenseful “Drifting”. Album release date and other details TBA in the coming months.

“‘Drifting’ is inspired by falling asleep behind the wheel and trying to forget unforgettable things. We’ve never had a song that sounded this naked.” – ON AN ON

When ON AN ON went into the studio in 2012 to make their debut LP, Give In, it was only weeks after the creation of the band, and everything felt new and open. They didn’t have any specific sonic goals. They only wanted to capture what it sounded like for ON AN ON to begin.

Give In was met with critical acclaim and a groundswell of enthusiasm from music fans who streamed the up and coming band’s songs hundreds of thousands of times on SoundCloud and drove their singles to the top of the Hype Machine Popular chart. In short time this lead to tour and festival offers as well as other opportunities the band could only have dreamed of a few months prior.

After a year and a half playing shows and festivals like Governors Ball, Bonnaroo and Iceland Airwaves across the US and Europe, the band returned to Minneapolis to begin writing their sophomore album. Being on the road provided ON AN ON with time to examine how they wanted to expand and grow sonically, resulting in more collaborative writing and experimental live tracking. It was this approach that they brought with them when entering the studio with Chiccarelli.

ON AN ON is comprised by Nate Eiesland, Alissa Ricci, and Ryne Estwing. Further details on their new album including title and release date to be announced in the coming months.

Axixic Dancing on the Moon CD Review

Dancing on the Moon’s titular track is a track that has is compelling, alluring, and punctual to a point. The track has hints of James Taylor, Warren Zevon, and George Strait. Axixic’s technical ability is what will keep fans coming back for more; the compositions that are present during Dancing on the Moon are able to seem listen and airy while possessing very dense and deep compositions. Ghosts of Huron is a perfect example of this, where listeners can appreciate the song on the surface or dissect each constituent element.

1295849

Someday I Won’t Live Here Anymore… is a slower effort that allows for a very deliberate style to be present. The beauty of the lyrics are paralleled by the dulcet tones that issue forth. The guitars and drums that are present here provide a smart backdrop, pushing the vocals to a higher plateau.

Make sure to visit Axixic’s website for more information about the performers, samples from Dancing on the Moon, Lying in My Arms inserts a jazzy horn into the mix; the track swiftly takes on a more formal, early twentieth-century American tradition. The placing of Lying in My Arms towards the end of the album is smart; ti provides listeners with additional momentum to ride through the last registers of the album. A Fine Line showcases the faster tempo of Axixic; the tremendous vocal range that is presented to listeners on this effort makes it considerably more difficult to know precisely where Axixic will go on subsequent tracks and album. Make sure to purchase a copy of Dancing on the Moon from Axixic’s Tunecore or from iTunes directly.

Falling Doves Ready To Go! CD Review

Glass of Wine is the initial track on Ready To Go! and provides listeners with smart and bold rock in the format of Goo Goo Dolls and Incubus. The swirling guitar eddies and punctual arrangements that listeners will experience during the early registers of Ready To Go! will ensure that they are on the edges of their seats for the subsequent cuts. I need you now is a touching and heartfelt track that slows things down considerably. During this track, Falling Doves are able to create something that all can identify.

a0404178476_10

Nikki is a perfect blend of hard guitar riffs and supersonic vocals. The track is able to build off of the rich hair metal scene of the late eighties / early nineties and create something that works perfectly in the current period. The guitar solo that links together the two parts of Nikki keeps things balls to the wall and provides an emphatic ending to a dynamic track.

In to the fog begins with a very deliberate guitar line that takes on influences as different as Blue Oyster Cult and Soul Asylum before moving into a more introspective section. This blooms into something raucous, ensuring that the melodies of the song tattoo themselves firmly into the minds and hearts of anyone listening in. Make sure to visit the band’s website for more information about their upcoming tour dates supporting Jarabe De Palo. Until March 10th, we are giving three pairs of tickets for Falling Doves’ Cleveland date at Wilberts on the Ides of March (3/15). Ready To Go! concludes with a furious track that is as much Motley Crue as it is The Replacement; Falling Doves are able to create something different and wholly engrossing each time they step up to the place on this disc.

David Arn Walking to Dreamland CD Review

Walking to Dreamland is a track that ties together the pop and rock styles from the sixties to the current day. The dynamic that Arn crafts between the guitar, piano, and vocals during this introductory track will cause listeners to take notice; they will be hooked. Better Off Today slows things up, allowing for a more complex and introspective style to issue forth.

dreamland_cvr1400x1400_300dpi

It is during this track that listeners can appreciate the production, which establishes a very close-knit sound while allowing the constituent elements the ability to shine unfettered. Even in a Town of Seven Churches (Odds Are Even) is a dry, wind-swept track that takes fans on a journey; hints of twee-pop, traditional folk and psychedelic can be discerned during the four-plus minute run time of this effort.

Rosalina’s Music (Nexus Chokehold) expands upon the sound of Better Off Today, keeping the tempo slower so that each lyric and note will echo in listener’s heads long after the CD ceases to spin. The ability of Arn to tie together disparate tracks into a cohesive and coherent album is the key reason why Walking to Dreamland succeeds. Water Lillies is the final track on Walking to Dreamland, and it provides closure to this deep and expansive composition. While the track ends things perfectly, one wonders if some of the twists and turns that Arn includes will not be expanded in subsequent recordings.

Make sure to purchase a copy of Walking to Dreamland from iTunes or Amazon; visit Arn’s website at davidarn.com/ for the latest in updates, tour stops, and additional music from this gifted composer.

OG Penguin Interview

Hello, OG Penguin. Your current album is Cry. What significance does your album title hold for you?

Its a special title to me, because the album is special to me. In this album entitled “Cry” I’m revealing my self to the audience in way that is rarely done in today’s most popular rap albums. The definition of “Cry” is to shed tears, especially as an expression of distress or pain. I will take you through a lot of that along with me in “Cry”. There can be tears of joy too, yes as well as hearing a story that is so vividly hilarious it can make you cry. In my album “Cry” if your human and can relate to my real life tales, or for the simple fact that another human being has suffered some of the thoughts and emotion i share it can be sading for most and others cry.In my personal life i haven’t shed tears in a long time, and i know i’m not the only one who is that way. Me being a strong black and confident straight male we tend to refrain from crying, but we are human and it builds up. So I’ve learned to release through my songs. To me its like every song is a tear and i cry through my music. I express my self and doing so i connect with listeners.

Can you describe your creative process to us? How does a song go from an initial thought to a complete song?

I work closely with who I believe to be some of the best producers in the world. One in particular who goes by the name CSK (Kenny King Jr.) whom i’v known for over 20yrs he knows what to bring me to get my creativity going, Gutta Beats Juggin, Waxx Taxx(Edward Sullavin) including myself make beats and all work together to give you that sound. I record, engineer, mix and master all of the songs on “Cry” and I mean that. I literally hit the record button on every track run in the booth (closet) and perform. I carefully pick the tracks. they softly whisper to my soul to wear the songs almost write themselves. First theirs a melody that creates a vibe that makes me want to say things, chants and phrases bounce around in my head like ping pong balls and then i have to start writing them down, and practicing how i wanna deliver each part. I become totally consumed up until its final stages and I’m in love with it. its fun, its magical and I want to share it with as many people as I can who will listen and I hope they love it just as much as I do.

Which rappers/performers are the greatest influences for you and your music?

Michael Jackson, MC Hammer, Tupac, EightBall and MJG, Scarface, Master P, Brotha Lynch Hung, Three Six Mafia, Ice Cube and Too Short.

What process do you utilize concerning ordering and the ultimate decision whether to put a track on the album?

When I make an album I usually make the title then build around it. I’ll always make way more songs than can fit on a CD, and then the extremely difficult process comes of which songs do not make the cut, cuz me I love em all. But they all can’t go. In the final stages of an album I will do some critical listening and go off my gut instinct on what stays and what goes. as well as the song order its all instinct and vibe. What songs create what vibe and how do I want the vibe to carry listeners through out the album. I ask myself, When I first visualized the album and it’s title is this the electric vibe I thought of? And I’ll go from their.

Which sort of social media website have you had the best successes with? What about these online services are different from the traditional face to face meeting that musicians traditionally utilize?

I have had most success connecting through Facebook and Twitter, but nothing i think is more powerful than meeting people after a live performance and then staying in touch through social media. Everything with social media is okay. Only problem for me is theirs too many and I can’t man every station and don’t have the time to give all the attention needed to them for them to be beneficial.

Which tracks are your favorite on Cry, and what makes them so?DSC_1543

I love them all, no-lie. The outro is truly dope cuz I did the vocals in one take and if you listen closely enough, I really almost cry.

How can individuals find samples of your music?

Visit my website www.ogpenguin.com you can search OG Penguin on any major Mp3 download site for my music as well as www.soundcoud.com/ogpenguin  www.reverbnation.com/ogpenguin , www.facebook.com/pages/OG-Penguin/570875226329339 and www.twitter.com/og_penguin  you can find my music on sites like Spotify, Amazon, Itunes etc..

What is the next step for OG Penguin?

I’m gonna start shooting more videos possibly do “Cry” The Movie and have it distributed world wide through my label Penguin Music Group (P.M.G.) which we just recently became an imprint of The Orchard/Sony Music Entertainment. I’m gonna start giving fans more visuals of whats in my head cuz sometimes I go over the audience with audio alone. So I need to bring in the cameras, sit down with the right videoographer, and get this stuff out of my head so you can see what it looks like. I’m gonna focus a bit more on the You Tube Channel, P.M.G. Internet Radio, more albums more artist to introduce under the label and ultimately I wanna reach out and acquire as many fans as possible. I enjoy watching people get to know me. I wanna meet as many as people as i can and I want as much money as i can get in the bank. Just so i can buy my family and friends everything they need to help in their pursuit of happiness.DSC_1556

Do you have any final thoughts for NeuFutur readers?

I would like to interact with everyone who reads this and hope we can connect on some level. Please support my independent hustle, cuz I could be an insidious menace to society doing wicked things like before, but  instead I chose a different path and i’m an passionate artist with some cool ideas that i’d like to share with you. I promise I will perform live and speak from the heart for my fans who choose to follow me. I encourage you to buy my masterpiece album “Cry” when it is reveled this spring also go back and listen to my previous albums as well they can be found on my website(please visit my page and sign my guest book www.ogpenguin.com). I work hard on my albums and sacrificed over the years to bring them to the public, they have help me master my crafts. Please leave comments and feedback I respond, and its very inspirational to hear others talk about my art, so just let it poor out if its on your mind. Lastly stay true to who you are and you can’t go wrong. Laytaz.

L7: Pretend We’re Dead Information and Tour Dates

The infamously fierce, feminist pioneers of American grunge punk have officially funded their documentary film, directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker, Sarah Price (American Movie, The Yes Men, Summercamp) Titled L7: Pretend We’re Dead, the film takes viewers on an all access journey into the 1990’s grunge movement that took the world by storm through the eyes of the band that helped define it as the genre of a generation. Having reached their fundraising goal to bring the film to life, there are 3 days left to contribute and grab incredibly unique rewards, including a séance with the band (only 2 left!).

Go to the Kickstarter project HERE to check out the wide array of perks, from signed vinyl to handwritten lyrics.

The reaction to the announcement of the documentary was far more electric than the band could have expected, catalyzing a widely anticipated reunion of the band in its original line-up, set to take on festivals across Europe with more dates to be announced. All along the Kickstarter journey, fans and supporters came to the table from around the world, across genres and gender. Recently, Brazilian electro-rockers CSS voiced their support and explained the weight the band held in their mind, recounting their discovery of the band as teenagers. You can see the clip of them chatting about L7 here!

Culled from over 100 hours of vintage home movies taken by the band, never before seen performance footage, and candid interviews, L7: Pretend We’re Dead chronicles the early days of the band’s formation in 1985 to their height as the ‘queens of grunge’. The formula: one part Donita’s love of pop and punk and one part Suzi’s hard rock and blues, charged with lyrics that had political bite and humor that proved irresistible.

L7 will kick off a European tour, bringing their high-octane energy and anthemic chops to the stage to ignite audiences once again. Stay tuned for more live date announcements coming soon!

Listen to Kindred tracks “Lifted Up (1985)” and “Where The Sky Hangs via passionpitmusic.com and pre-order the album with the two tracks as instant downloads here

Kindred was written by Passion Pit creative force and frontman Michael Angelakos and recorded in New York City. The album was produced by Angelakos alongside longtime collaborators and co-producers Chris Zane and Alex Aldi, as well as Benny Blanco.

Angelakos’ songwriting process for Passion Pit has always been to filter and reshape. Many sounds on Kindred that one would assume are synths are actually Angelakos’ voice, manipulated by computers and pedals. Angelakos frequently repurposes sound: using Top 40 signifiers for outré ends, crushing weird natural and synthetic detritus together into pop (Brent Katz, liner notes, 2015).

Kindred follows Passion Pit’s 2012 hit Gossamer, which found the band selling out Madison Square Garden, appearing on “Saturday Night Live” and a special “Live on Letterman” performance, and playing at major festivals including Lollapalooza, Governors Ball, Outside Lands and more.

Tenement Release Bruised Music Volume One 3/10

TENEMENT are releasing Bruised Music Volume One, due out March 10th in a joint release from Grave Mistake Records and Toxic Pop Records. “Morning Mouth” is a shining example of the amalgam of hooks and edge that TENEMENT excel at. TENEMENT is also embarking on their run of tour dates with Priests and Vacation today.  The tour includes several dates with Screaming Females.

Bruised Music Volume One delves into TENEMENT‘s deep and impressive catalogue to compile ten rare or out-of-print tracks from seven of the band’s earliest tapes, EPs, and split singles.  Bruised Music Volume One‘s tracks have all been re-mastered and feature vastly improved sound quality than their original releases.  The collection will also include an eight page zine with liner notes and anecdotes from the band, their friends (including members of Screaming Females, Sundials, Coke Bust, and Nervosas), and journalists who championed the band during their inception.  Bruised Music Volume One isn’t just for the super-fan looking for a peek into TENEMENT‘s early years and the honing of their razor sharp song-craft, it also offers new listeners a great introduction to the band’s perfect blend of raw punk energy and undeniable pop hooks.

TENEMENT mopped the floor with conventional showmanship the second they walked in the door. With their eyes closed and their heads tilted toward the heavens, they’ve been known to stand still in the spotlight and let their glorious noise ring out, naked and uninhibited. This isn’t a hateful noise, but it is a sincere one that if received by a perceptive audience, can tug at the gut and induce a primal shiver from the mind to the heart. Perhaps this honesty can be attributed to their Midwestern stereotype, or perhaps they are in fact true outsiders among their Rock and Roll peers. No matter which, the curiosity that is TENEMENT began in 2006 with a series of loose demo recordings and singles that married the genres of “Pop” and “Punk” without being explicitly “Pop Punk” and to many, represented the power and urgency of Hardcore without actually conforming to the genre itself. These recordings have been compiled here by Grave Mistake Records and Toxic Pop Records for their new collection LP, Bruised Music Volume One, which covers TENEMENT’s output on record between the years 2006 to 2009.

During this early period, the group consisted of Amos Pitsch on guitar and vocals, Jesse Ponkamo on bass guitar, and a short-lived drummer, which in the wake of current drummer Eric Mayer, remains a shadowy figure. This is due mostly to a violent and bloody tantrum which left said drummer relieved of its duties and coldly disowned by the rest of the group. Most of the material on Bruised Music was recorded at a university studio in Oshkosh, Wisconsin by long time friend and schoolmate Tyler Ditter, who also doubled as lead guitarist on a handful of tracks. Justin Perkins recorded the rest. A lauded engineer and producer in his own right, he also recorded TENEMENT’s 2011 LP, Napalm Dream among many other critically acclaimed records within the realm of punk and indie rock.

The influence of 80’s punk is strong in the bulk of the material on Bruised Music, likening the feeling of The Descendents or The Replacements. However, this comparison might seem lazy when you keep in mind that the members of TENEMENT had long schooled themselves on everything from The Beatles to Big Star, Sun Ra, Coltrane, Black Flag, Husker Du. Obscure hardcore punk to Brill Building pop music and all points in between. The period of time represented in this collection is a period of growing pains that paved the way for them to become the band that they are today, and the band that they will be many years from now. It’s the birth of a strong creative force; the musicians together learning to crawl, and the great American outsider pop group taking its first steps. Grace and elegance go out the window on this one. It’s clumsy and ugly at times. Its breath stinks and its pimples show. It talks loudly in a quiet room. It speaks its mind and spares no sensitivity. It’s TENEMENT’s Bruised Music.
