Dom La Nena's "Start A War" Video Unveiled

Video director Jeremiah, who has worked with Dom numerous times in the past, directed the stunning clip shot mostly in Super 8, explains of the new video “low lighting plunges Dom in a grainy darkness that pictures the entropy we face everyday in our civilized lives, and that the song indirectly evokes.”

On working with Jeremiah, Dom says, “[He] was the only person who could capture the ordinary moments of my life along with some of the more uninhibited moments, as he knows me so well. He is able to capture the varied elements of my personality and translate them into the images that make up this intimate video. I am not a very good actress, so when we work together, usually we just let the camera roll…  no acting, no ‘let’s make a movie’…  Jeremiah knows what to do to make it all feel natural and authentic.”

After earning raves from The New York Times, Wall St Journal, NPR and more for her debut album, Ela, Brazilian born Dom La Nena went back into the studio to self produce a new set of tracks with the intention to record them all solo, using only her cello and her voice, similar to her live performances. The end result is a new EP, Golondrina, which consists of one new original track, also titled “Golondrina.” The title track will be featured as “Today’s Top Tune” and available as a free download over at KCRW’s music blog this Friday 10/18: www.kcrw.com/music/programs/tu

The EP also includes an eclectic collection cover songs that speak to the diversity of Dom’s influences in addition to “Start A War”: Lhasa de Sela‘s “Con Toda Palabra” and Stephan Eicher‘s “Dijan’s Waltz”.
