Petticoat Junction The Official Third Season DVD Review

The third season of Petticoat Junction was the first to be aired in color; this change made it possible for viewers of the show to gain an entirely new perspective about the show’s setting and costuming. By this 1965-1966 run, Petticoat Junction had created a solid cast of characters and new situations for Bobbie Jo (Lori Saunders), Billie Jo (Gunilla Hutton), and Betty Jo (Linda Kaye Henning) and their friends and family.

Of particular note on this DVD set are episodes such as Joe Carson, General Contractor. In this episode, Uncle Joe attempts to get tapped to make a set of renovations to Green Acres. Dear Minerva is the first episode of the season and captures the rapid rocketing to local notoriety by Kate after she starts to write a column for the town’s newspaper, while Whatever Happened To Betty Jo? has Kate confused at what happened to Betty Jo after the latter fails to make it home from school in a timely fashion. Amongst these highlights are a number of other solid episodes (Kate Sells The Hotel, It’s Not the Principle, It’s the Money) round out the third season. I feel that Billie Jo’s Independence Day is a diamond in the rough in showcasing a dynamism to the show that simply was nowhere to be found in other television shows of the sixties and seventies.

This DVD set is only available at Wal-Mart. Make sure to purchase it today to see some of the clearest and most brilliant version of the episodes that one has ever seen. Strong sales of this release will ensure that the show’s final four seasons will be put onto DVD.
