Once’s second season begins with Emma Swan breaking free of the curse laid upon eir by The Evil Queen and striving to bring order back to the real and fairy tale worlds. Magic is brought to the real world by Rumplestiltskin (Mr. Gold), while the show embarks on a number of distinct plotlines. This season introduces Cora (Barbara Hershey, most recently of Black Swan) and Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue, of The Rite and Storage 24). Once is able to weave these plotlines through the twenty-two episodes of the second season, concluding with And Straight On ‘til Morning. This episode will have viewers on the edges of their seats, tying up some loose ends while ratcheting up both the drama and the unparalleled set design.
The Complete Second Season contains a variety of additional features. A Fractured Family Tree allows viewers to see more clearly the relationships enjoyed by the cast of the show, while audio commentaries laid down provide insight into the decisions made by those behind the camera. The featurettes include a set of bloopers, a host of deleted scenes, and a brief look into the raw sex appeal of Captain Hook. For those that are interested in the other side of the coin, “Girl Power” captaures the variety of attractive female characters on the show. One can purchase the second season of Once from a variety of online or retail stores beginning on August 13th, for about $40-50. The show will begin its third season on September 29th.
