Candi pours very light blonde with a white head that sits on top of the beer. The 9.5% ABV of the beer is hidden nicely through the inclusion of a considerable sweet element. What results with Candi is a very drinkable tripel that would be dangerous in large quantities. The burn that Candi does provide keeps each subsequent sip interesting. The beer’s bubble gum and fruit notes can be discerned alongside the sweeter elements.
As the beer warms up, maltier elements become dominant. With this continually shifting set of flavors, Candi is able to continually capture the attention of imbibers. Where tripels usually come forth with a static set of flavors over the course of 12 or 16 ounces, Candi’s considerable amount of twists and turns are fantastic.
Make sure to visit the Fordham / Dominion website for more information about their seasonal and year-round efforts. Make sure to pick up Candi from your local beer store before it disappears – one can also locate it at points in draft. Candi is a great beer for fans of Belgians or for challenges to the status quo of beer styles.
