Jiggley Jones …A Mountain, A Struggle, A Tunnel, A Light… CD Review

…A Mountain, A Struggle, A Tunnel, A Light… is the latest effort from Jiggley Jones, and contains six slices of his life discussed through music. Walk On Me starts things off, and it showcases Jones as a performer that is able to weave a tremendously interesting narration. The instrumentation that is present during this introductory track provides a very complete and beautiful polish to Jones’ vocals. The slower tempo taken by Walk On Me introduces Jones to listeners and segues nicely into Look What I Found. The deliberate and vocal-heavy approach taken during this track is further bolstered with the instrumental arrangement, a commonality that is present at all segments of the release. Man on the Run is the final track on …A Mountain, A Struggle, A Tunnel, A Light…, showing the breadth of Jones’ influences. The composition touches upon Jane’s Addiction, Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, and The Beatles even as Jones’ inimitable vocals soar above the track. This ultimate effort is destined for radio rotation, but will appease those music-heads that focus on the actual content and dynamic created between the instruments and vocals.
