The beer pours as black as night with a tannish head that takes some time to dissipate. The beer has a malty nose that obfuscates some of the nuances that are resent in the beer. The initial sip yields hints of coffee, chocolate, and a slight sweetness at the end of the sip. There is a little amount of a bready, malt element that can be discerned variously through the Pike Stout.
Lacing creeps down the glass as an individual continues to sip the Pike Stout. As the beer continues to warm up, a different set of flavors begin to show themselves. The sweeter elements that were hidden during the initial pulls from the beer come forth in a much more noticeable fashion. This sweet side of the beer allows individuals to easily make it through the last few draws of each 22 ounce bottle of Pike Stout.
