Massachusetts’ Doomriders are currently recording their follow-up to 2009′s critically acclaimed LP Darkness Come Alive at Godcity Studios with engineer Kurt Ballou (Torche, High on Fire, Converge). The band’s two prior full-lengths (Darkness and 2005′s Black Thunder) were also recorded with Ballou at the helm, keeping Doomriders “…hybrid mix of hardcore, stoner metal and metallic punk rock melding together to near perfection…” (Blistering.com). This yet-to-be-titled third album will be seeing the light of day in 2013, once again via Deathwish Inc.
Doomriders formed back in 2005 and boast a notable lineup featuring Nate Newton (Converge, Old Man Gloom) on lead vocals/guitar, Jebb Riley handling bass/vocal duties (a well-known tattooer in North Shore Massachusetts, also known for his work in Disappearer and There Were Wires), Chris Pupecki (Cast Iron Hike) riffing on guitar, and Q (Clouds) pummeling the drums – this being his first recorded appearance with the band.
Since their inception, Doomriders have toured and played shows with the likes of Clutch, Disfear, Danzig and Blue Cheer among many others around the world. The band continues to prove that aggressive music can be powerfully diverse with their soulful yet heavy take on the genre. Doomriders’ new material is sure to be more well-rounded and monstrous than anything they’ve done before.
