Glimmerglass Review

Glimmerglass is the latest seasonal release by Ommegang Brewery. It pours with a very pale yellow color, possesses a substantive white head, and has a sweet, fruity nose. The beer opens up to provide imbibers with a more peppery and citrus fruit flavor, while inserting a small amount of bitterness at the end of each taste. The beer showcases sweeter notes when it warms up. This complexity ensures that individuals will come back to the beer, as subsequent quaffs will place a slightly different constellation of fruit, malt, and hop notes.  Lemon, grain, and spices all come into focus as Glimmerglass continues to warm up. The lightness of the beer works perfectly for the increasing warmth of the spring months. The vibrancy of Glimmerglass keeps things interesting from beginning to end; I feel that the release does much to introduce new individuals to the saison format. This does not exclude old hands, as the beer is complex enough to yield a variety of experiences with each session one has with Glimmerglass.
